Let's take this week off

Sorry for the late update again this week. Farm Foodie had computer issues and was unable to update as planned.

Here's is my solution to this hot, dry weather situation and it's effects on the farm... PICK UPS will be every other week for the next 4 weeks, July 25/26, Aug. 8/9. Skip this week
unless you are out of potatoes. If you are then come into the Feed Barn to pick some up. Herbs and flowers are open for cutting during daylight hours but preferable not on Sundays. There is some good looking and smelling cilantro in the first herb box near the hoop house.

The high temperatures are giving us pollination problems and not much is being produced on the vines so I'm hoping with the extra time between pick ups I can gather a better share for you. It will also give me some time to focus on the fall gardens and get seeds going for transplanting in a month.

Tomatoes are making an attempt at producing but it's not uniform throughout the rows, so I expect they are about 2-3 weeks from harvesting.

Chickens will be processed on the 26 of July, Thursday, and ready to take home fresh and unfeathered by 4:30 that day. If you would like to pre-order email or call 779-6409 (during business hours) and let me know if you would like your chicken(s) left whole or cut up for and extra $1.00/chicken. Also leave your contact #. Ordering 4-5 at a time for your freezer should be no problem to fill. Price per pound is currently $3.75.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this year and the repetitive drought situation. If you have a question or concern about your share or how this year has worked out for you so far please feel free to share with me. Also, don't hesitate to bring some ideas about what else this farm could help to provide that may not be so weather dependent.

Linda
